May 2014 Yorkshire Rubber Linings Ltd took delivery of a large HCL Storage Tank, the customer required a full strip and reline of the vessel in a black natural soft rubber.

May 2014 The removal of the old rubber begins, this was carried manually using vibro chisels. This took around two weeks to complete due the low hours required for using vibro hand tools.

June 2014 after the removal of the rubber the vessel is transported into our large tank bay ready for shotblasting prior to rubber lining.

June 2014 Shotblasting commences on the internal surface of the vessel, the steel surface has to be blasted to SA 2.5

Once the shotbasting is complete a full visual and Testex inspection is carried out to ensure the correct profile of SA 2.5 has been achieved, the shotblasting also highlights any metal imperfections (see photo) that have to be addressed before rubber lining.

June 2014, Within 20 minutes of the completion of the shotblasting the bounding system is applied to the internal prepared surface.

June 2014 After the completion of the application of the rubber to the internal surface the next stage is to complete the rubber lining to all the external branches, once this is complete the vessel will be then blanked off ready for vulcanizing

June 2014 After the vessel is vulcanized the next step is to carry out a full 100% spark test and visual inspection that also includes carrying out hardness tests. This photos shows the vessel been prepared for the external paint application, All rusted or pitted areas were rubbed down and treated against rust, then a two pack Aluminium primer was applied ready for the final top coat.

June 2014 This photos the finished vessel after two coats of epoxy two pack paint was applied to match the original paint colour.
